I’m back to the drawing board, finally! I promised to tell you lovelies about my very first Wash-n-Go experience so here it goes. J K (I smile for the effort and blank stare for the tragedy that occurred) About a week and a half after my big chop, I decided to wash my hair and attempt a full on wash-n-go and it was a bitter sweet experience. I sectioned my hair in 3 parts, washed with my Karen’s Body Beautiful Ultimate Conditioning Shampoo (absolutely LUUUUHHHVV this stuff) and conditioned with my Tresemme. Needless to say, I was thrilled because the amount of time it took to wash and condition was literally about 20-25 minutes. I finger detangled in the shower while rinsing out the conditioner and then gathered my Kinky Kurly Knot Today, Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie and prepared to go to work! I was super excited and remembered I probably needed some Eco Styler Gel but didn’t have enough. It was a first attempt, so I figured I’d wing it. Well, I made sure to start with detangling more thoroughly with my wide tooth comb, applying product to smaller sections and coating all of my hair with the KKKT and Shea Moisture. It was like BUTTAH BABYY! My curls were on point, super shiny and the process only took about 15-20 minutes total – WINNING! After I celebrated the shorter style time, I realized it was about 7:30 in the evening and I didn’t have a diffuser. I just figured I would let it air dry as long as I could and then pineapple it, wrap it in my satin bonnet and hit the sack for work in the A.M. <_< (side eye) Now you would think with all the YouTube mavens I stalk (literally), that I would know that you should thoroughly dry your hair and THEN pineapple, but NOOOO. I thought I was going to have a new go to style that shed HOURS off my wash day styling and I was completely wrong. At least not THAT day O_o I awoke in the morning to a big, puffy, mess…Diana Ross hair to the fullest! I had to tame it a bit so I didn’t go to work looking like a lioness and scare my coworkers. I slicked half up into a ponytail and let the back be until I could come home and do my trusty Flat Twist Out. I learned my lesson for sure. Next time, I’ll get my EcoStyler Gel or some Beautiful Textures Product I saw in AllThatsGold’s Wash-n-Go video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apU3omWjLLs to tame my curls. I’ll also be sure to have enough time to dry my hair (or get a diffuser attachment) because it is ESSENTIAL to how the results come out. I’m glad I at least have the option to do a Wash-n-Go now and that is just another freedom of being completely natural. No more perm rod ends! Now that I see the potential and convenience in this style, I will definitely try it again. If at first you don’t succeed…..
